The Long January 2025

I knew 2025 was going to be a hard year, but sheesh! I had no idea it would get off to such a rocky start. Here's the breakdown:

History Stuff. All the videos and articles for January were off schedule, in part because I botched some recordings and in part because my technology died. I basically ended up having to do most of the work for my book recommendations twice. The video is here. And a deeper dive into my favorite books from 2024 is here

Personal Stuff. I got new blades put on my skates. I was warned that it would take me a bit to get used to the new rocker, but I kind of blew off that warning. I'm not a highly skilled skater, I figured I couldn't possibly notice such nuances. There's no nuance, it was a drastic change. I've had to completely adjust my positioning. Thankfully, it's improving each time I skate, so I'm optimistic.

Do I even still play the flute? Being sick at the beginning of the month really knocked me out of consistent flute studies, but like everything that got off track, that's working itself out too.

General vibes. This whole month has been rough, mostly because of things I have very little control over. I do want to make a more conscious effort in February to find a way to bring some levity where I can. Not because I'm diminishing the dangers we're surrounded by, but because a full and healthy life requires fighting where you can and finding joy in life where it is. Right?
